Coronalie-20, Not so Little White Lies

The FDA food pyramid, with what and how much you are supposed to eat, was going to save us from obesity. Wikipedia(1) dates it to 1974, from Sweden, but I disagree. I remember being taught this crap in High School. Circa 1965-1969. Be that as it may, it is a lesson in abject failure. Here we have our government telling us what to do and it’s wrong. And, even if you take Wikipedia at face value, that’s 40 years of wrong. The Federal government told us that loading up on carbohydrates and minimizing protein intake will make us healthy. I doubt that it will (I submit that there is proof that it doesn’t) but it will sure as hell will make you fat!

And then...

Coronavirus has been running our lives for about 7 months, now. We’ve been anti-social distancing and incognito masking for, at least, 5 months. So, why is there this surge of coronavirus cases and hysteria? Aren’t we doing what our fearless leaders have told us to do to limit the spread of this virus?

And, they’re at it again. In the Midwest, there is panic among the people. Not because of riots in the streets, but because there “is” a resurgence of the big C. And, I don’t mean cancer, but coronavirus. Just what do the data say, though?

Kansas
Total cases 74068
Total deaths 937
Case fatality rate 1.3%
Population 2,910,360
State specific incidence 2.5%

Missouri
Total cases 165210
Total deaths 2665

Population 6,169,270
State specific incidence 2.7%

Texas

Total deaths 17659
Case fatality rate 2.0%
Population 29,472,300
State specific incidence 3.0%

US
Total cases 8,458,554
Total deaths 223,602
Case fatality rate 2.6%
Population 331,621,926
Incidence 2.6%

World
Total cases 42,006,178
Total deaths 1,140,759
Case fatality rate 2.7%
Population 7,800,000,000
State specific incidence 0.5%

Basically, there is gross under reporting in the world data. Right? But the states of Kansas, Missouri and Texas are neck-and-neck with the nation as a whole.(2)
